Control water damage to prevent structural damage, bacterial & mold growth, and the release of harmful chemicals from water damaged materials.
- It is critical to first identify and then stop or contain the source of any leaks.
- Use a moisture meter to determine the full extent of the water damage and find exactly where in your home the impact is.
- For minor leaks the contamination is not typically hazardous and off the shelf cleaning products can be used for restoration.
- When allowing small leaks to dry up within 48 hours the risk of structural damage or mold growth is greatly reduced.
- Small areas of visible mold growth (less than 3’x3′) on non-porous surfaces like tile can usually be wiped clean using a damp cloth and mild detergent.
